What is Shared Ownership?
Shared Ownership offers you the chance to buy a share of your home upto 75% and pay rent on the remaining share. Later on, you could buy bigger shares when you can afford to and, if you chose, own the property outright. Monthly costs to purchase via Shared Ownership are generally less than purchasing outright or renting, making it a fantastic option to get onto the housing ladder.
The advertised share percentage represents the minimum available to purchase. For applicable Shared Ownership homes, the full range of permitted initial shares will be made available on at least 25% of properties within the development or phase, where required by the relevant programme.
A prospective purchaser assessed as being able to afford a lower share than advertised may be considered for a lower initial share, where permitted by the relevant funding, planning, contractual and regulatory requirements. This does not create an entitlement to purchase at a lower share percentage.
Once the required proportion of properties has been sold, L&G Affordable Homes reserves the right to amend the minimum share percentages offered on the remaining properties. The share available to each purchaser will be confirmed through the sales, mortgage and affordability assessment process by L&G Affordable Homes or its appointed Sales Agent.
